Created By HIS Presence
This isn’t traditional at all to talk in first person on a website bio page, but nothing about my life is traditional. I want to share a little bit of my story with you. I believe there is no better way to connect with a person than by getting to know their story.
I was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, with both of my parents and an older brother and younger sister. Life seemed to be great on the outside. My family and I went to church; we loved each other, and a person couldn’t genuinely ask for a better situation. But behind closed doors, life wasn’t as picture-perfect; I was exposed to things that led to an addiction for over a decade of my life, fell into the shadows of comparison, and struggled with being a middle child. Internally, I wrestled with self-worth, identity issues, lust, and bondage for years. During my middle school and high school years, everything that I had ever learned and my love for God I had put aside. I had allowed the world around me to consume me as I was consuming it. I eventually stopped going to church when I started working. Work was the way to escape my reality and to run from God’s accountability. I knew all the right things to do and how to live; I just didn’t want to.
Until one day, while I was at work, I felt that I was missing something in my life. I was so frustrated that day, and I didn’t understand why until the Holy Spirit spoke through my thoughts, saying, “I’d rather be at church right now than here at work”. From that day, my life changed. I started going to church again with my family, and Jesus’ life was becoming so real to me. It was in that season of my life that God started to bring a passion to me for Him and His people. A few months later, we moved to Houston, Texas, right before the pandemic. In that season, even though I was still struggling with those things in my life, Jesus was showing me how much He loved me and wanted to set me free.
After years of battling an addiction and so much more, I was finally free. The more time I spent with Jesus in prayer, reading my Bible, and just having real conversation with Him, the bondage I was once bound to melted off of my life like butter. As time went along, my prayer was that Jesus would get the most out of my life because of what He did for me. I was truly recreated as a forgiven, clean new man because of His presence.
When I graduated high school, I had no idea what to do, so I thought that I would go to college to become a pastor. But college didn’t work out. So I started a pressure washing business, and a few months later, I became a Youth Pastor at a church. My passion to be a leader from when I was in Florida was coming to life. As I have spent time with God, I have discovered so much about myself. I learned new things that I was good at and had so many doors of opportunity open up, like writing a book, hosting a TV show, meeting multi-millionaires, and speaking in front of my peers and the next generation. Because of my obedience to Jesus, he allowed me to do so many amazing things during these early years of my life. This is why I live my motto “Never Too Young” because WE are “Never Too Young” to experience what God has for us!
